February 2019

We have been so busy lately that I have not had the time to write my blog posts as often as I would like to. So, now to catch up on what has happened the past couple of months. February was an extremely busy month which included a trip out west for Jennifer and I, which I will have to post about at a different time because I have so many pictures. So, here is most of what happened during the shortest month of the year.
Landon pretended to be an alphabet doctor at school. Here is all the stuff that he came home with. I actually got to volunteer at the school. All the kids were so cute with all their medical supplies on.

For Jennifer's birthday we celebrated by taking her to her favorite place to eat, Olive Garden. They had chocolate lasagna on the menu which brought back a bunch of old memories. They had it on the menu when we first started dating and it was one of my favorite desserts so we couldn't pass up an opportunity to have it again. Also back when Jennifer and I started dating we would have to travel over an hour to get to eat at Olive Garden so it was a huge treat. Jennifer is happy that both the kids really like her favorite restaurant.

I let the kids pick out their own gifts for mommy this year. If you remember a couple of years ago I did this and the kids decided to get Jennifer a fish. This year the kids decided on these little wall hangings. We are all very lucky to have this woman in our lives!

While I was volunteering at school I saw this little paper that Landon had wrote for Martin Luther King Jr. day. He said "I have a dream that one day my family will live in peace and our world will be kind. If we could all just live in peace and harmony this world would be a much better place! Little man really has a good heart.
I found out about a video game tournament that they were having at one of the local public libraries. It was a smash bros tournament and I had asked when calling about entering the kids about what system it would be played on and they told me that they didn't know. The kids have only ever played on Nintendo 64. Well when we arrived it was on Nintendo Switch and the kids wanted to practice for a little bit. Well the only problem was that Landon was called up first to compete. Well, this picture shows exactly what happened. Landon lost his mind! He forfeited and wouldn't even sit in the chair to play the game. Turns out that after he calmed down enough he told me that he was scared to sit in front of all the people have them watch him not know how to play.

We stuck it out instead of leaving because Brinley said that she wanted to play her turn. Well, she was one of the last people to play in the first round. Since it was an under 16 tournament Brinley went up against a much older opponent. Brinley played with Peach and lost her battle 1-3, meaning that she died 3 times and killed her opponent once. I was really proud of her and she had a lot of fun.
They gave out prizes for coming out that were Mario mustaches. The kids took a picture with this themed backdrop.

Treated my sweetie to breakfast at Chick-Fil-A for Valentine's Day. I thought it was so neat that they made their biscuits into hearts.

Brinley also lost her second top tooth too!

We aren't really big Valentine's Day people because we show our love every day of the year to each other. We did get the kids a couple of treats that they love.

Jennifer helped both kids make their Valentine's boxes for school. Brinley of course made her box to look like a bunny!

Landon wanted to make his box look like Pikachu!

I was honored to have been recognized by a patient's family member as going above and beyond what was expected of me as a nurse. I never think of what I do as being a job, but being a nurse is what God put me on this Earth to do. I help families and patients who have been given some of the worst news of their life and I am a small part of their journey. Each and every one of my patients are very quickly absorbed into my family. Although individual praise is never what I want, this was very touching that a family nominated me for this award. I wear it very proudly on my badge everyday at work.
This was our last family picture together before Jennifer and I left for our vacation and races out west. We said goodbye to them one night and then the next morning we had to be at the airport at 5 am. These two little guys are so very important to us and we miss them so much while we are gone.

After we got home I talked Landon into letting me cut his hair. It  ended up being a little shorter than I thought it was going to be. Jennifer said that I was no longer allowed to do it, but it kind of grew on me.

I also talked the kids into going out to the opening day at the new UK baseball stadium. We walked all over the stadium and even spent a little time watching the game from the outfield. What awesome new facilities that they have.
The kids posing with the Big Blue Kentucky out in front of the baseball stadium. Hopefully these kids start to enjoy going to and watching these sporting events with me.

We sure did pack in a lot of stuff in the month of February. I can't wait to share all of our pictures from our adventures out west. These kids sure are growing up fast and it is so much fun seeing them experience all sorts of new things. I truly enjoy spending so much time with them and experiencing life with them and Jennifer. Thanks for reading and God bless!
